It’s been a hot minute since my last band shirt styling posts, but I’m thrilled to bring it back. I won’t lie, I’ve rapidly eased on the band shirt buying oner the last couple of years, but finding fun ways to style them is something I love to do and helps ease the guilt when I do buy one.
For this new little series, I’ve opted to style multiple shirts with one bottom half piece, whether that be a particular skirt, pair or trousers etc and mix up the accessories. Multiple fun outfits that can be made out of one shirt and bottom!
This set of shirts have been paired with an Amazon pleated white lace hem skirt, it’s so versatile and looks so cute with oversized shirts (so those tees don’t have to exclusively be worn to bed), you can style it with trainers, boots, heels, literally anything and it’s super cheap too.
KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES
Most of my band shirts are KIGH, as you’ll definitely see in this series, this is a golden oldie that I don’t feel got enough love at the time. This denim blue Levi’s style tee gives a nice colour pop with the skirt, pairs perfectly with a pair of New Balance white and navy trainers for a relaxed and comfortable vibe and mid-blue, fluffy handled handbag. To take this to the next level, I’d probably throw on a longline denim jacket, although I’d absolutely want to be showing off that back print!
See that this has been tucked in but bagged over at the top, this is to avoid seeing the shirt under the skirt (the colour would be very visible), but as the top isn’t long or big enough to look effective over the skirt, the tucked up loose fit provides a strong silhouette without it looking frumpy.
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE
This shirt was bought on a last minute whim from Primark, all of my old My Chem shirts from near on 20 years ago have long been sold so I didn’t have one to wear to see them at Wembley. When Primark released a wide selection of men’s band shirts a few months ago, I freaked out when I saw this. Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge will always be my fave album of their’s and this shirt is perfect for £12.
This is pretty much what I wore to see them, different footwear but the oversized black tee with this skirt made me feel like a 30-something year old version of the black haired, side fringed teenage me and showed me a little difference between those 2 different version of me.
For this look I’ve paired the shirt and skirt with knee-high black boots and a black shoulder bag, to elevate it more I’d likely throw on a longline leather jacket or a leather gilet, being mindful of the different lengths of the jacket, tee and skirt so it doesn’t look too layered.

I told myself I didn’t need this shirt and then approx thirty seconds later I bought it at his Manchester gig last year. I have no self-control, what can I say?
You know I love a back print shirt at this point, and this is probably one of the coolest ones I own, from his Damn Country Music tour, there aren’t any tour dates just a funky cowboy on a horse which is really top tier.
The size of it works really well with this skirt, it’s not too big but comes just long enough to show off a little more than the lace hem. For this I’ve thrown on a pair of brown platform mules and a brown suede studded shoulder bag, the brown accents work well with tying in the back print colours and a general country music tone.
To take this from bedroom to outdoors, I’d most probably thrown on an overside brown leather jacket or a longline white denim jacket.
