The very moment I saw this shirt, I had to have it. There were no maybes, there was a certainty that I’d have this shirt some point during the season. I lasted about 6 weeks before I gave in and bought it (6 weeks before the start of the season). Mind you, this was after picking it up every time I visited the Man City Arndale store and held it up against myself in the mirror, telling myself ‘you’d look really cute in this’. I was right, I do.
One trip into the store with my best friend, saying I was absolutely not buying it because it was the same week I’d unexpectedly ended up by the latest England home shirt, and of course I’d been influenced to buy it.
It was only a matter of time.
Sometimes you look at a shirt and you see a player, even if you’d never seen them play in it, you just imagine them in the shirt. This shirt had James Trafford all over it for me, and despite the fact I’m gutted that he’s no longer a City player, I have zero regrets about having his name on this shirt for a season he won’t be our player.
The first time I threw this outfit together was the day after I bought the shirt, it was something I wanted to wear for a casual Sunday brunch outing, but with the weather being a little grey and cooler, my legs needed covering however I needed to make sure I’d still fit into whatever I was wearing after eating the most insane doorstop French toast of my life.
This look is super casual but cute, trainers keep it light for a casual coffee date or running errands, but stick on some boots on mini heels then you’re ready for a cute shopping trip. I opted for the stretchy drawstring wide leg trousers from H&M and my old faithful New Balance 740 white & silver trainers, along with the best colour pop bag I’ve ever seen, the Coach Kisslock frame multicoloured woven bag.
