HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH

There's something so terrifying about the speed in which time is passing by, New Year seemed all of a month ago so trying to fathom where the past 8 days have gone, since I returned home from Paris, is near impossible. I'm not even thinking about London being 6 days ago.

However, back to the trip in hand, it was an incredible experience that I've still not fully recovered from and something that is crushing me at the thought of no longer being there.

Before we start, I'd like to warn you that this post is obnoxiously picture heavy - you've been warned. (I took over 400 pictures!)

My mum and I stayed in the area of La Villette which was much more fantastic than I first realised when we booked, it was so central to two metro stations and was actually a divine and well populated area with places such as below only a 5 minute walk away. I was overly obsessed with the side cafe and all their hanging lights - the dream!

Saturday was by far the busiest day of the entire trip, we left the hotel before noon and didn't return until way past nine pm, okay we were horribly shattered and our feet were hanging on by the thinnest thread but it was an incredible first day.

Galeries Lafayette was just mesmerising, pretty much Paris' answer to Harrods full of beauty, designer, high street and the most exquisite ceiling I'm ever seen! We also wandered up and down the Champs Elysees, avoided death by using the subway to the Arc de Triomphe, stared at the Sacre Coeur in awe for the millionth time and even wandered down to Place Vendome before deciding we'd collapse if we didn't head back to the hotel.

Firstly, I'm very annoyed I didn't take advantage of all of the bread at C'est la Fete du Pain in front of the Notre Dame, it looked incredible and I wish we hadn't passed through so quickly.

We ate lunch in front of the cathedral, walked nearly the length of the Boulevard Saint Germain, watched an insane amount of people on roller skates who actually skate every single Sunday for fun (they actually close off roads and have police manning it!) and spent the evening by the Eiffel Tower. You have no idea how excited I was when I realise you could see the top portion of the tower from our hotel room despite being the other side of the city.

Also, the battery died on my camera by about 2pm hence the lack of snaps.
The biggest thing to happen all trip was my ascent up the Eiffel Tower. Okay, so I was only able to go half way because they closed off the very top (another reason to go back to Paris, ha - like I need one), but it was seriously one of the most breathtaking and unforgettable moments of my life. Shout out to my mum who, despite her fear of heights being even greater than mine, successfully made it to the first floor of the tower. I'm so proud of her!

Later on I had a wander around Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré to swoon over clothes I can't afford and shops I was far too intimidated to step in.
I had my first macaron on my last day - yay! They are so tasty and I bought 12 to bring home. We wandered around the Champs Elysees again, passed through the Louvre and roamed the general area.
I was totally in love with the French Minnie & Mickey!

All in all, the trip was so amazing and I'm hanging onto the hope of heading back for my birthday this year, what a fun way to celebrate my 22nd!

Where are your ultimate fave places to visit in Paris?
Stay tuned this weekend for my Eiffel Tower experience post!
