I'm back with another band shirt styling post! For this one I’ve chosen a skirt that has tragically been sat in my wardrobe for the past 2 years (I really love it, I don’t know why I don’t wear it, it’s criminal), it’s such a statement piece and can be styled with so many things - which is probably why it tends to make an appear in my styling posts.
I’ve selected another 3 bands shirts to style with this skirt, varying music genres and colours to show how versatile your shirts can be with the right item.
KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES
What a little rogue shirt! I often forget I even own this, it’s a little worn, a little slim fitting, a little bit old, but it the only pink band shirt I own. Side note; can more artists please make pink shirts?
As the black skirt is the main focus of the outfit (largely due to the length and the amount of material), the pink colour pop of the shirt is a nice relief to brighten the look up. I’ve paired it with very girly footwear in pointed lace up kitten heels (note to self, wear these more) and my Coach Kisslock frame bag to brighten the outfit up even more. It feels like a much girlier look and the shirt doesn’t feel like a band tee at all.
THE MAINE
If I had a pound for every time I’ve posted about this shirt, I’d probably have made my money back on it (US import taxes and all). When I first bought it I imagined it would probably end up stuffed into my pyjama drawer or worn on the very odd occasion, but it quickly became my halloween go-to shirt and something I just love to wear.
Tucked into the mesh skirt, it provides a kind silhouette and begs for studs - of which I provided with both my Topshop handbag and my New Look patent pointed slingback heels - the whole ensemble has a girly yet edgy feel to it that makes me feel like me.
Whilst I’d wear a leather jacket with this if I was going to cover up, honestly I’d rather be cold and show this off in it’s full glory.
ONE DIRECTION
I cannot tell you how happy I am that this One Direction tour shirt is still going strong after 13 years (and how many times I’ve actually worn it), I love to style it because it’s so easy but it also has a retro vintage feel to it that it elevates pretty much any outfit.
I really wanted to dress this up, the skirt practically begs and screams for it, and who am I to deny it its moment? The ASOS heeled mules are another wardrobe filler that doesn’t see enough light of day, they give a good amount of height to keep the skirt off the ground without making it look short and this little black suede and silver gem shoulder bag give it a party feel. And truthfully, who doest want to party in a One Direction tee?
To take this outfit out, pop on a studded leather jacket and you’re onto a winner!
What did you think of these? What shirts do you want to see styled next?
